On September 2, 2019 (Labor Day) Crosby Olson finally arrived. After a day of waiting for a hospital room to be ready, we finally made it to Scripps Memorial Hospital for my induction. It was without incident, except for the anesthesiologist paying more attention to Harry Potter playing on the TV than actually giving me my epidural which resulted in acute pain upon arrival. Once the pushing began, he came very quickly and our obsession began immediately.

I believe one of the best days of my life was not actually his birth but the next day when his brothers met him for the first time. Nothing could have prepared me for the adoration they would have for their baby brother. They quietly walked into the hospital room, took one look at him and were bonded for life. They took turns holding him in their arms and staring at his sweet little face. It was the most wonderful gift, as their mother, to watch them adore their sweet baby brother.

The second night of his life, Me Ani stayed with me in the hospital and he cried ALL NIGHT LONG. I couldn't move because of a pulled muscle and various aches and pains and Mi Ani could not get him to stop crying. The curmudgeon had arrived! Luckily this was the only night he cried this way but he certainly made a grand entrance.
Once home, Scott and I spent most of our days sipping Peanut Butter Moods from Jamba Juice, watching The Hills Reunion Show and taking turns holding baby boy. But once the boys were home from school, he was all theirs. No matter what, after soccer practice or before bed, he was in their arms.
The first six weeks of his life are a blur of equal parts exhaustion and happiness. Crosby and I were a permanent fixture at the house as the boys would come and go to soccer games, school and soccer practices. Thank heavens for good friends who helped us get our boys where they needed to be. I couldn't have done those first few weeks without all the help I received.

As tiring as those first months were for both Crosby's parents, it was the sweetest time with our new baby boy. His sweet little personality has completed our family and we could not be more grateful.
The night we arrived home with Crosby for the first time, James could not fall asleep because he was so excited about his new baby brother. He stayed awake past his bedtime to write Crosby a letter. This is what it says...
"Dear Crosby,
I love you very much and you are adorable. You make me happy whenever I am mad. Just like you did today about my homework. I was not happy about all the work I had to do until I looked at you, I became HAPPY! I think it is pretty crazy that you are the cutest baby I've ever seen and you are part of my family! I love you Crosby.
Love, James"
